Thursday 7th August

Wow, what a few days! So much action we've 15 photographs in this update, so comments added below to each photos. Beers all round tomorrow!

So first up, the floor is in! Exciting! It's a Queensland Spotted Gum hard wood floor, secret nailed to a ply base (see earlier photos) with a waterproofing layer underneath. It's still to be sanded and polished which will hopefully be on Monday.

And the turf is down. There goes our water allowance of only 170 litres a day while we water it in and keep our fingers crossed it will take.

And around the back is finished too. We've just covered the old grass area with rocks as we will eventually deck this area. Less to mow... Wahoo.

The flooring is underway. The waterproofing sheet and underlayer of 15mm ply is down. And what a lovely sight - a big stack of hard wood.

And we have electricity! A few niggles with the electrics but the lights and power works. So say hello to the Famous lights... We'll obviously be working under the 4 row lights and the meeting area is under the coral feature light.

Landscaping is in progress. A good pile of top soil and the trenches around the house have been filled with drainage rocks. The back yard has become a victim of Sam in his bob cat!

The bathroom is complete! Might be my favourite room in the whole house.

The stairs are also complete. More to paint. Joy.

And to end on a funny one. In attempting to move the dunny from our house to another building project down the road, it fell off the bobcat, landing upside down and spilling its contents down the street. The smell was horrific! Very funny though.

Monday 4th August

Bit of a delay in getting these ones up - we blame it on the paint-arm-recovery-period. Painting now almost complete, a few touch ups inside and the outside to do. The Famous Group red feature wall is done! And thanks to John at All About Paint for painting the ceiling! Building approval today hopefully and floor starts to go down tomorrow.

Thursday 24th July

Another week and some good progress. Outside slab is being poured tomorrow hopefully and inside is almost ready for painting. Really looking forward to that... Not.

Monday 23rd June

Bit slow on the updates this week, but been a productive week. Plumbing work and the slab is in! Apparently things speed up from here.

Sunday 15th June

One more day of drilling and hopefully no more jack hammering! The hole's made and the plumbing trenches are dug. The two beams have been raised and some supporting posts are in as well. Looks like progress! We're looking at a day or two of plumbing and the slab being laid towards the end of this week. The dust factor is stupid.

Tuesday 3rd June

And the digging continues. 3 days of "it missed the dams" rain has effectively turned the entire underneath of the house and the front yard into a mud swamp. Lorries, mud, grass and rain don't mix. Still more digging to go but at least looking like it's nearly there.

Sunday 1st June

Ok, so I'm going on dates rather than days on the job now as it's getting too hard to remember!

Feels like some good progress on Thursday and Friday as some softer rock was found and the hole has made it to the current wall. However, the rain has come turning it into a muddy paddling pool and it's official that the front yard has been trashed.

Monday should see the house being propped so they can dig out the remaining supports and make the hole its final size. Will be nice to have a day with no drilling!

Day 10 maybe?

It's slow going but the hole is gradually getting bigger. Apparently there's some kind of indestructable rock that might mean we can't go back as far as we want to. Hmm.

Day 6 - Slow progress!

The hole's getting bigger - somewhat slower than planned due to the solid rock under the house. The sewerage has been temporarily re-plumbed to allow the digger into the middle section to dig out. At least another week of jack-hammering. Fun.

Day 4 - A lot of mess and a hole

So jack hammering from 7am - 5pm. Lovely, just what the doctor ordered. We have 2 inches of soil and then solid rock. It's now possible to walk under the house, albeit just to where Trish's desk will be!

Day 2 - More demolition & steel beams!

Day 1 - Demolition

Site clearance today. We have a skip, no hedge and a very bare tree.

Day 0

Ok, so here we go. Let's start with what it looks like before it begins.
